Here's the new camper bus.  Well, it's 30 years old, but it's new to us...

here she is in her new paint job.  it's kind of a long story.  we went to burning man, and thought it would be really cool to put out some enamel paints, and let people turn the bus into a roving poster ala peter maxx.  well, that was what we hoped.  and some people were really pretty good.  others you could tell were a little fried, sitting in a wind storm in 100 degree heat.  picasso's work would have suffered under those conditions..  so we had her updated a bit...

here she is in her original colors.  our 1971 VW camper with riviera pop-top.  she was actually a prize in a contest by rainier beer, hence the colors and the script "R" on the front...  we didn't win her, but bought her from the guy who did.

this was taken EARLY on the morning of friday, 8/24/01.  the morning of one of several trips to several dave matthews shows at the gorge amphitheater in george, washington.  if you haven't been there, you have missed one of the great concert venues on the planet...

hollie once again found us an AWESOME camping spot which we used several times for different shows over the last few years - beautiful, isolated, and on the edge of something, as usual, in this case a cliff and a lake below...

sleeping in is a specialty, and also a relative term.  i was up at 530 or so..

we put up the awning for the first time.  very nice!  does look a little like a good humor van, and i really think we should stock ice cream bars to pick up a little cash on the side, but there weren't too many campers out here in "sneak-camping-land".

more later.  thanks for checking it out....
